Just coming on here to share my story about what happened to my 7 year old son. And wanting to know if anyone else has gone thru this as well.
My 7 year old son started training in this academy in June of 2021. He was in the competition team as of March/April of 2022. We attended Mon-Sat twice a day plus CrossFit program. My son attended 4 tournaments & won a few medals for the academy. On 8/23/22, my son was sparring with another child when a Coach by the name of Hector Martinez noticed he was bleeding from his mouth. He waved my husband down & told him to take him to the bathroom to wash off. My husband did so & advised our son to go back on the mat (as others do). Once he did so, Wilson Sgai started yelling at him thinking he left the mat w/o permission. My husband tried to tell him that Coach Hector gave him permission, then yelled at my husband saying he cant come back on the mat w/o permission due to safety reasons. Not once caring if my son was ok as he does other kids who are favored. My son is a well behaved, sweet, shy and timid. After the class was over, my husband asked Hector to please get Wilson to speak to him. He asked him why did he reprimand our son that way. He said our son wasn't special & got confrontational with my husband screaming at him in front of all kids and parents. One family never came back after writing an email to Carlos Ramirez (owner) who disregarded their concerns. I sent Carlos a message the next day expressing my disappointment as I was not there but got several texts and calls from other moms who witnessed it & who were not very happy with Wilson. My message went unanswered but we kept attending classes anyway. On 9/20/22, after the second class ended, Carlos advised my husband that they were parting ways with us & kicking our 7 year old out of the school. We had paid for the upcoming tournament for 10/8 which we had to withdraw from. We feel discriminated as my son has never misbehaved & other kids whose families are wealthy get away with bad behavior only bc their parents donate money to their school. I have since heard he has done this to other kids. Kicking them out due to parents' safety concerns.
